d-Wizz e-mail Update #4: 2003-04-21
Hello everybody again, welcome to another d-Wizz e-mail update.
In this issue, there's a lot of info about what happened at AGMF, which just finished yesterday, and some other news as well.
1: d-Wizz Merchandise - YES it IS coming, there's just been a few small delays, mainly because of money, or rather the lack of it. The shirts should be available in about 3 - 4 weeks, and the stickers, magnets, pens and posters should follow very soon after that. During this time, I will be investigating the copyright clearance for the "bang the drum all day" and "perfect beat" quotes. Approximate prices (all including GST) will be $16.50 for shirts, $2 - 3 for pens (6 colours available: black, red, blue, green, gold and silver), $3 - 5 for posters (3 sizes available: A3, A4 and A5) and $1 each for stickers and magnets. So watch this space for more details...
2: d-Wizz' NEXT GIG is on 2003-05-02, at Enigma LIVE, held at Kruger Parade Baptist Church at Redbank Plains (4301) - corner Henderson St. Cost is $5 each. So come along and bring your friends. Maybe THIS time there won't be any technical problems! If you are DEFINITELY coming and you want your favourite d-Wizz song performed, you need to tell me what it is and I'll see what I can do.
3: In the next 2 - 3 months or so, d-Wizz wants to complete Box Set #2, which was sort-of half finished in a six week period between 2002-09 and 2002-10. It is lamentable, but the fact remains that d-Wizz has not recorded for six months now, and nothing new has been released in that time. However, there are always upsides to these situations, and one of them is the many contacts d-Wizz has met in the last six months. It is now about the time to rally these people together to create material far superior to that which has been available previously. In fact, d-Wizz intends to redo some of the songs on the first Box Set with new vocals and possibly additional guest musicians. The search is now on for people who want to help - so if you want to sing or play on a d-Wizz recording and you think you've got what it takes, then I need to hear from you NOW so we can discuss what you can do and get you rehearsing. d-Wizz is planning to record in a REAL studio sometime in the next 6 - 8 weeks to get some real quality recording done. The aim is to have Box Set #1 updated and Box Set #2 completed in time to launch at Hillsong 2003, so the deadline for this 2003-07-03. I did it last year and I know I can do it again bigger and better "with a little help from my friends". So let's make a masterpiece together!
4: Yes, the big news of late is, of course, AGMF - the Australian Gospel Music Festival - which was held in Toowoomba (4350). d-Wizz arrived on Friday 2003-04-18, and attended many exciting performances by a wide variety of bands and solo artists, including: Blind, Half Way Out, Supafish, Vacant Lot, Propane, Compliments of Gus, Rhubarb, The Chapmans, David Meece, The Lads, Rookie, Another Day Down, James Morrison, and heaps more. d-Wizz made special effort to network with most bands after their performances, and many new contacts were made. Again, a special welcome to all of you who are reading your first e-mail Update as a result of your AGMF encounter with d-Wizz!
5: One BIG question everybody wants to have answered is: did d-Wizz play at this year's AGMF? Well, the answer is sort of yes and no. As promised, d-Wizz brought his now legendary "mini-kit" with him, and did in fact play it quite a bit during the 48 hours he was in the 4350 area, although most of this was not witnessed by any other people. There were no performances inside AGMF itself, however, d-Wizz did host two very special performances on the Saturday, 2003-04-19; the first of which was on the side of Kitchener Street at about 1700hrs, with an audience of about 10 present. Six hours later, another gig in the centre of the lake in the park was held for the exclusive entertainment of the four members of Compliments of Gus - Matt, Jared, Justin and Rebecca. Thanks again guys for coming out in the cool Toowoomba nite air to see this crazy drummer play ;-).
6: Shortly after the special performance for COG, d-Wizz went to play by himself in an isolated location a few kilometres from the centre of Toowoomba. This was a powerful time - for more details about what happened in the early hours of 2003-04-20, please contact d-Wizz and ask for the special account of this amazing experience.
7: d-Wizz is hoping to follow-up on a large number of contacts he met at AGMF, with a view to partner with them for the furtherance of his music projects, and also to help them wherever possible. The future is certainly very exciting, so watch your inboxes for another d-Wizz e-mail News in about 2 weeks with all the latest d-Wizz news. See you all then!
