1.4.01 - d-Wizz E-mail Newsletter #1 (2003-02-24)

G’day everyone, this is d-Wizz. Sorry it’s taken so long to write to you all - I’ve been very busy. But anyway, here is the first ever e-mail news for d-Wizz.

This is Issue 1, dated 2003-02-24.
Since the groundbreaking cameo performances at Sonfest 2003, interest in d-Wizz and his music has skyrocketed. This follows on from a phenomenal 2002, which saw d-Wizz release no less than 18 different CDs. There are even more in production right now, so stay tuned for more details of these.
It’s no surprise d-Wizz should release so much in such a short time, with nearly 100 original songs in his catalogue! The big question is why has it taken nearly 10 years? I guess all good things take time, as they say.

d-Wizz wrote his first song on 1993-09-18 - nearly 10 years ago now. In recent years, the songs haven’t come as frequently, but there’s still plenty to play with.
The equipment used to create the music is fairly simple. d-Wizz uses a program called Cakewalk, a sequencer, on his computer to program most of the backing music, which is played on a little black box called a sound module (a Korg X5-DR for those interested). The MIDI tracks aren’t all that interesting on their own, but they enter a whole new dimension when d-Wizz adds himself to the mix. The magic ingredient - d-Wizz?own 5-piece SONOR Force 2000 drum kit, which sounds great, especially when d-Wizz is playing tasty grooves on it.

2003 promises to be a big year for d-Wizz in many ways, one of which is heaps of live performances not only in Brisbane, but all over Australia!
d-Wizz is playing a gig for the first time as a solo performer this coming Friday (that’s 2003-02-28) at the Albany Creek High School Hall, supporting FIVE great local bands, so come along and check it out - it’s gonna be a great show!
