d-Wizz Music presents the "Maniacs in MIDIland"?karaok?show!
This is an idea brought up by TBird and Brown Trousers.
I'd like to seriously develop this concept.
Karaok?with MIDI backing tracks. The show lasts for about one hour.
A variety of classic hits, d-Wizz originals and contemporary Christian Praise & Worship songs (mainly Hillsongs, but there are others) are available.
d-Wizz can play drums for some of the tracks, others have full MIDI backing. Or we could opt for a full MIDI backing on all tracks and let d-Wizz do a bit of singing.
The vocalists would be volunteer members of the audience.... or we could also invite a few guests who know the songs.
Possible venues... small clubs, even BBQs in ppls backyards or other small gatherings. I don't think the concept would work in a school hall or if there were more than about 40 ppl.
If anybody out there has any feedback on this, please let me know.

For the last two months or so, d-Wizz has been rocking the shed at Damian's place at Morayfield each Monday night from about 1900 until he gets tired :P Accompanying d-Wizz on these musical odysseys are Laurence Sellars, guitarist and part-time drummer extraodinaire, and Brenden Evans, keyboard and vocal prodigy. If you'd like to experience a d-Wizz jam you are most welcome to just rock up and either chill out with us or join in and have some fun. If you don't know where Damien's place is, just contact me and I'll let you know how to get there. If you need an amp or anything like that we can probably arrange something - just let me know before 1700 on Monday ;-)

On another front - there are exciting new developments happening. Thursday afternoons are another jam time for d-Wizz with Dario, a.k.a. the Glamgod. We are working on a variety of each others' songs and classic covers we both like. Yesterday we had our first serious jam (we have played together a few times previously) and there is definitely a serious musical chemistry present.
Dario has been working on learning a few d-Wizz songs, and the results are very good. His interpretation of the cult-status "Happy Birthday" rocked the shed! Indeed, d-Wizz was impressed with the sound of hearing many of his original compositions being played on guitar for the first time. Two new covers of mutual appreciation were introduced, "Shake" by Andrew Ridgely, and "World Shut Your Mouth", by Julian Cope. d-Wizz was rocking so hard he broke his first ever drumstick at the jam!
Dario and d-Wizz are looking at getting about 4 original songs each plus 4 covers to bring a 12-song repertoire together, so that we may begin getting exposure for ourselves, both individually and as a duo. We have yet to think about naming this project. We are also considering enlisting the help of a third person to assist with vocal duties, although we do not wish this to become a large act.
It is envisaged that our likely prospects will be in small clubs and bars, and as support acts in larger venues. Any bands interested in having us support them should contact d-Wizz by return e-mail to this address. Similarly, suitable venues are invited to do the same.

d-Wizz Merchandise - negotiations are underway for the production of a limited number of official d-Wizz T-shirts. Also in the pipeline are stickers, fridge magnets and permanent marker pens.
There are five proposed slogans, which will appear on all merchandise. Two of these will require copyright clearance before they can be used, but this shouldn't be a problem. The slogans are:
1: "Are you ready for d-Wizz?"
2: "I don't wanna play - I just want to bang on the drum all day"
3: "d-Wizz is here to make you feel good"
4: "Hit that perfect beat, boy"
5: "Overcome with strange emotions..."
The T-shirts will be black with white writing. On the back of the shirt will be the web address of the official d-Wizz website. The front of the shirt will feature one of the slogans as mentioned above, plus the official d-Wizz logo.
Stickers and fridge magnets will be released shortly. It is unclear whether the merchandise will be available before AGMF, but d-Wizz is hoping to at least have some shirts available there. The pens will be produced in-house, and should be available in a few weeks.

d-Wizz @ AGMF - it's still not 100% confirmed that d-Wizz will indeed be going to AGMF, but it's looking a lot more certain each day. Logistics concerning the proposed impromptu, incognito performaces are still in progress. Stay tuned for further details of this.
See you all next time!
d-Wizz.
