Lesson 5: Reading Drum Score
Drum score looks similar to other musical score, with the important difference that it is written on a percussion clef, which looks like this:

The same five-line staff is used for drum notation, but instead of denoting pitch, each line and space of the staff represents a particular instrument in the drum kit, as in the diagram below:

Each instrument is usually abbreviated to two letters, viz:
HH = Hi-hat1T = First tom-tom2T = Second tom-tomSD = Snare drumFT = Floor tomBD = Bass drum
Other abbreviations include:
CB = CowbellRC = Ride CymbalCC = Crash CymbalSS = Side-stick
